in my area, great lakes brewery unleashed a bourbon cask aged beer on an unsuspecting cleveland market. i've tried it and not being a fan of bourbon, didn't care for it. it packed a hell of a punch though.
then i noticed the antichrist, (anheuser-busch) put out a 'bourbon cask aged' beer of their own, and i had to laugh, then vomit.
what i wondered is the whole 'bourbon cask aged' thing something started by GLB, or is it some nationwide beer trend?
anyone know? do your local microbreweries produce one?
cracking open a christmas ale,

Re: those 'bourbon cask aged' beers
Thu, January 4, 2007 - 2:03 AMMy sister was talking about something similar to this over the holidays. She works in Greene King, UK. She has said that some of their beers are aged in oak casks a bit like the scotch is in Scotland, and this is where they send them when they need to be repaired.
