Possibly the most useful thing i have ever learned. I got this on mythbusters of all places.
what you need:
large container full of ice
salt
water
beer- or a drink in a container
put your drinks in the bed of ice, add some water and throw in a bunch of sat, its cheap so don't skimp. mix it all around and come back 5 minutes later to the coldest beer you have ever had.
make sure your beers are submerged and you have used plenty of salt!!!
also throwing a bunch of salt in your water when you make pasta makes it cook faster and better.

Fri, February 16, 2007 - 8:36 PMThats a lot better than my trick...Kinda the same thing....fill a bowl full of ice and put the beer on top of the ice on its side and quickly rotate it with it the palm of your hand like a cylinder for about 5 min.. Something scientific happens and the beer is ice cold. You just have to watch out...if you rotate it too fast you can loose control of your beer and it goes flying...if you rotate it too slow it won't get cold.
I'll have to try the ice and salt trick. -

Get one of them plastic handled cups for freezin--don't know for sure what ya call them, but they're built with a wall that contains some kind of liquid that freezes but it don't break the plastic walls of the cup. Anyhow, freeze it then pour a warm beer in there. Takes a couple of minutes to get cold, but the nice thing is the beer just keeps gettin colder and colder as ya drink it down--I've even had my beer form a little ice in it toward the end. Keep a few of em in the freezer and your ready for that cold beer any time.

When my beer gets super cold, I just don't question it no more, I just thank the Good Lord for modern technology and go for bottoms-up!
